Unwelcome party revelations

I tried to draw up a list of people to invite to my birthday party from the local area. The number of potential invitees was small (15 from work, 15 from outside work) not including significant others. I need to get myself out there more… Given the standard expected attrition (particularly since some of the work invites are a stretch) I don’t forsee a big party. On the other hand, quality people, yay. =)

Still, I need to get out more. =)

New computer soon?

I’m moving soon and anticipate that I will have ethernet strung into my room again. My desktop hasn’t been plugged into anything really for the better part of a year. It’s also not exactly new. I was borrowing it from while living in CA, and then bought it off him. It may become a headless unixoid file server. So, I’m planning on getting a new game machine. It will, of course, run windows (vista or XP most likely). But I’m not sure which features are most important. I tend to run multiple programs simultaneously, and keep lots of tabs open in my web browser. So, currently, I’m thinking that RAM (a gig or two), dual (or quad) core, and a good graphics card are the priorities. And, of course, a nice 17+” LCD screen. Anything else I should think about? I understand I have to get XP pro to make use of multicore processors? Should I bother paying for Vista?

You thought you were going to do what?

So, I thought I was going to sign the lease on the new place today, but the landlord had to reschedule to another day, tbd (he’s calling me tomorrow). I was planning on board gaming afterwards, but it seems that’s not happening. I could clean, start packing, etc. Maybe hit the gym. But I was looking forward to interacting with other fleshy things that talk. Like, in person & stuff. That I don’t work with. =)
