Drunk post
I originally composed this as a text message post in the cab home, but realized it was way too long for a text message post. This allows you to judge just how drunk I’m really not.
anyway.
Dude I am like so drunk. I said, I am like, so drunk! [not really. I am correcting an unusual number of typos and my coordination currently blows, but, yeah, not really _that_ drunk].
I met timsimms and chi_thirdrail. Tim was a sweetheart. And made mq comfortable, and gave me much booze. Thanks, Tim! (sorry I was a lamer and left without saying goodbye, I hope you can forgive…) The shower thingy was kinda cool. A couple of the guys were my idea of hot. Especially the guy who came in second. Mmm, pretty.
Tony I met later. We chatted briefly, mostly bitching about CTA, but it felt. good. more such conversation in the future would be quite welcome. Yay! now I go to sleep. After hydrating. Water is awesome. I think I wont’t be drinking this much again for a very, very long time.
g’night folks. Be well.
scu.
ps, the backspace key is my friend. treat it with love and affection.
The UUs
I’ve been thinking about giving the Unitarian Universalists another shot. My first experience with them was that they were nauseatingly pollyanaish new age types. But their core principles appeal to me and they meet more often and they come across as less intrinsically arrogant than the secular humanists. Some of the polyannaish new age seeming people have more depth than they appear to. All I have to lose is a Sunday morning. Well, that and my attachment to a “cynical cool” image of myself.
Annoying thought
I’ve gotten out of the habit of talking to strangers I’m not seeking to bed outside of a work context. That’s problematic.
Bear bar plans tonight
Okay, I need to go out tonight. I have been a WoW-shutin for way too long. So my plans are to go to Spin (not at all a Bear bar most nights) for the Bear Shower Contest night. Why, you might ask? I admit that the traditional round bear is not my style. Aesthetically speaking, I do like hair, but prefer muscle to fat (in moderate amounts, some of both is good), but way, way more importantly, on average bears are way the fuck friendlier than “prettier” guys. So, here’s hoping.

t-minus 1 week and 1 day until shorter commutes and a more lively neighborhood. Woohoo!
Feeling the friday
All I want to do is curl up in bed, pull the blankets over my head and let the world go on without me. For the next 8-10 hours. Instead, I go to work. I’m sure I’ll be happier for having done so. =)
Bridge to Terabithia
Okay, so I was supposed to read this some time in elementary school, I think. But I’m sure I never did. I saw the movie tonight. With Vince the Hottie, whom I hadn’t seen in like 5 years. He’s still a hottie. And now single. I’ll introduce you to him if you come to my party. Anyway… =)
I liked the movie with a giant caveat, which I’ll get to later. It’s a touching story about two talented kids on the outside, from very different backgrounds, bonding over a shared imagination. It’s also a story about loss, and what it means to us. It is very touching, and for the most part, they did an excellent job with.
However, they WAY overplayed the fantastic/special effects elements. They were not the movie’s strong suit. Couldn’t they have let us imagine what the kids were imagining? Maybe that wouldn’t have been as true to the book, I don’t know, but I found them unneccessary and distracting. The scene with Leslie’s parents was way more touching and advanced the important part of the story much more than the final visual effects extravanaganza. It distracts from the bonds between the people. And that’s what the story is ultimately about.
