Dude, seriously sad for you and your discolored discharge. ewe.
Anyway, having suffered regular upper resp issues regularly, my doctor has a sure-fire comfort increaser – a combination of sudafed (12 hr time release) and 12 hr mucinex (guafenisen – an expectorant – NOT a cough suppressant) – this combination reduces the flow, and makes what flow there is less viscous – this results in more clearence and less culturing of the green.
Mucinex is kinda expensive, but totally worth it for the relief it grants
Feel better – and hydrate like your life depends on it – and throw in a bottle of pedialyte to keep your electrolytes balanced!
I second the recommendation for Mucinex. However, do note that there are two different forumlas out there. The regular Mucinex comes in a blue box. There is also a Mucinex + cough suppresant that comes in a green box. (I suggest you double-check the boxes despite their color because I cannot swear that the box colors haven’t changed since last time I checked.) I usually prefer to get the regular one (blue box) and deal with any coughing separately.
Mucinex are big pills and they have a funny taste (also pricey as previously mentioned), but they are TOTALLY WORTH IT. Guafenisen is the same drug that my ENT in Pittsburgh (an excellent doctor) prescribed for me during that very special sinus surgery time of my life. Mucinex works just as well as the prescription stuff did. Again, TOTALLY WORTH IT.
On another note, Pedialyte comes in popsicle form too, and they can be kind of tasty (and sore-throat-friendly).
oh boo…..I hate when that happens. Feel better soon!!!
Pedialyte, meet my friend Mucinex
