Clinton tickets
So I have a couple tickets to hear Bill Clinton speak live on November 5th. I’m not even all that sure why I bothered to pick them up. I’m sure he’s an inspiring speaker, but I’d so much rather listen to a recorded speech at home than go to a live one. I do not want to have to wait in line overnight or even for a few hours to get a decent seat (people lined up in sleeping bags outside my school to get the tickets in the first place, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to imagine people doing it for good seating). I don’t want to have to strain to hear what the speck is saying from nosebleed row. And I really don’t want to sit in a crowd with a few thousand of my closest friends. (Me + herds = cranky me)
Still, these were free tickets that explicitly say “do not sell” so the classic test for how badly someone would want them is obviously out. I know there are plenty of people at school who would gnaw my hand off at the wrist for them. I’m way more apathetic about it all. *shrug*
For the record, this is not an offer or a request for bribes, though I may later make such an offer/request, we’ll see.
Protected: social angst
Loving roommate exchanges
c: I just wanna live some place where there are more people like me.
l: There is no such place.
(this after we’d been discussing whether or not I was austistic. To which Brian said that I was no more autistic than he. I believe I explicitly pointed out what scant comfort this was. =)
Ugh
I’m done with the most soulsuckingly pointless task I’ve done since my temping days. Porting html over to a new website, which can only be reached by a web interface that forces me to manually enter code on a page by page basis, with significant pauses for each step of the process to load is a very annoying process. Especially since it’s supposed to increase “user friendliness”. I will be well glad to leave webmonkeying on a professional basis firmly in my past when I graduate.
Overcoming the apathy thus induced is not a trivial act or a pretty picture. Ugh. Oh yeah, qgpa event tonight. I need an image of me with a party hat, and one of those annoying blow-unroll-noisemaker things, chin resting on folded arms, in turn resting on a table top, with confetti falling around me, and a dead-tired-and-nearly-as-annoyed expression on my face. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, though. =)
I think I’ll let myself get back on ffxi when I’m a week ahead of the reading and done with all the papers for the semester. Yes, this is a case of moving the goal posts. No, I do not care.
Clearing out some of those dusty tabs
A link and a meme:
The story of a loving father with an autistic 1.5 year old. Touching. Got it from one of my subscriptions, but no idea which one.
What the heck: memories of me
If you are reading this, leave one memory of you and me together! It doesn’t matter if I know you a little or a lot, anything you remember! Next, post this in your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you.
recovery sucks
So, yesterday was almost as bad as the percocet and valium days of post surgical recovery, at least in terms of my ability to pay attention in class. I had a big headache, was still a little unhappy in the stomach, very tired, and felt feverish. I’m not sure if I was actually sick or just very dehydrated and sleep deprived. Yet still I went out to get my new laptop. And immediately afterwards, I went home and crashed out on the couch for a 10 hour nap. I feel much better today.
Some things change
First, this weekend, I had some Thai, and I was willing and able to eat it in quantities more than a few bites. I may have to revise my intense aversion to Thai food to a more tentative distaste. I’ll experiment and see if my tastes have changed. Finding that I now enjoy Thai would be a most welcome discovery. Here’s hoping.
This weekend I also observed (bragged? It’s so hard to tell with me sometimes) that I hadn’t puked in over 10 years (indeed, I’m pretty sure it was closer to 20). Which was true… up until about 30-45 minutes ago
