cell phone update

Sidekick broked. The screen no worky. This means no mobile browsing, no text messages, and good luck dialing people’s numbers, certainly no call screening. Fuckity fuck fuck. Hopefully fixing is cheaper than replacing. I had hoped to get a phone with limo or android for my next phone. But I’m not about to deal with crippled phone for the next several months. —

On a related note: if you want me to have your number, please comment here. All comments will be auto-screened to protect your digits from the big bad wolves. Email works good too.

Thanks, all!

Turns out, my phonebook was backed up online. Yay!

travel report

made it to Seattle safe and sound. On an air mattress in ‘s living room. Playing board games with and hopefully others tomorrow (sadly, Jeremy bowed out). Take the bus out to vancouver on friday check out ubc. My actual weekend has no specific plans yet, but monday is the triathlon (my first! Olympic distance), then tuesday I check out SFU & head back to seattle. Wednesday I fly off to LA. Should be an entertaining week and a half.

People in any of those towns, feel free to say ‘hi’. =)

Imminent travel — lack of plans

Okay, I’ll be in Seattle next week. I land late wednesday night. My triathlon is in Vancouver on the following monday. I have plans to check out grad schools in Vancouver on friday. Have I arranged my transportation or a place to stay yet? Of course not.

I am so frakked.

Also, I was thinking of heading to Boston for the Green Build Expo, but something about spending the better part of a thousand dollars, 2 days of my precious and limited vacation time, etc to go to a trade show for a bunch of products that probably aren’t all that closely aligned with my interests seemed like perhaps I should pass it up. Though I should still see my bostonian friends sometime in the next year or so. =)

inappropriately tired & d2x

I slept plenty last night and the night before, but I was dragging yesterday and am not entirely with it today. Not sure why. *shrug*

I got my pilot roommate started on diablo 2 a month or so ago. So last night I got the expansion and joined in. He has 2 sorceresses. For variety I have a necromancer (planning on fire golem/lower resist/bone spirit as my main skills) and a paladin I plan to make a vengeance / convixtion primary, to match up with his sorcs.

I seem to have a fascination with the sacred and profane chracter classes. =) see also warlock and paladin being my main WoW classes of choice.

my ideal job take 2

So the things I like to do workwise are…

  1. manage projects (most important)
    • Figure out goals, tasks, milestones, (involving collaborating, arguing and delegating)
    • identify roadblocks/bottlenecks and solutions to said roadblocks or bottlenecks.
    • track completion of milestones and keep relevant parties informed and involved
    • organize/plan meetings and/or events
  2. disseminate complex/technical information
    • explain processes or concepts to individuals or small groups off the cuff.
    • prepare and deliver presentations to larger groups.
    • engage in Q&A and brainstorming type group dynamics on esoteric topics.
  3. analytical research
    • develop ways of manipulating and synthesizing data to produce desired outcomes.
    • investigate and master various data sources
    • learn new (to me) scientific (hard and soft) studies and analytical models, how they were conducted and what they actually say.
    • analyze and deconstruct the analytical work of others to see what they did and how they did it, and if it actually means what they think it means.

More like what you were thinking, Mr. ? =)

An unusual start to the day

bike 5 miles to the beach. run 2 miles on the beach. Go swimming in the lake. Realize that the people you are swimming with (now that you’re far enough out) have gone skinny dipping only after one of them mentions he’s lost his keys (while swimming with his suit on his head). Spend 20 minutes diving for said keys. Head towards shore. Put suit back on and lose own keys. Find own keys quickly. Go back out and find other guy’s keys too. Return to shore, bike 5 miles home.

Now in to work. =)
