so very post-pride

Look, I’ve done the pride parade thing. I’ve marched with political causes, social clubs, athletic groups and a chorus. I’ve done it on skates, in speedos, in jeans, and even dressed relatively nicely. I’ve done it in big towns, small towns, and medium sized towns. I’ve even attended a pride parade in a foreign country. (It was in Toronto, to be precise). I just don’t care. They bore the hell out of me. I cared and got excited about it a few times, but that was years ago. I don’t deal well with massive mobs, regardless of the sexuality of the members of the mob. Enjoy the parade, I intend to ignore it. I may attend related festivities if someone invites me to a party or whatever, but that’s about it.

Two movies both good (if you’re into that sort of thing)

I saw Knocked Up on Friday. It’s a great date movie for the slacker set, and for the overachiever set. If only the date had gone as well. It’s got my #1 most important feature in a movie: it showcases personal growth. Adorkable slacker pothead and overachieving hotty girl hook up while mutually wasted. Condom miscommunication ensues, pregnancy results. The rest is the social interactions around that whole story. It’s overall good stuff.

On Sunday, I watched Paprika with . It’s anime about technology that lets people share dreams. It does have a generous Nightmare on Elm Street angle to it. The bad guy is telegraphed very early, but not explicitly revealed for awhile. The good guys win, but not everything is explained. Typical anime, on the good-ish side. There is some minor tentacle porn aspects to it, and some female nudity.
