my poor bike

After a year and a half of no serious mechanical problems, the handle bar control for my rear derailer broke, so I have to hold the thing if I want it to stay in any gear but the highest. Most inconvenient. Fortunately, there are several bike shops within easy walking distance of my place.

Very, very true. One of the touring biking faqs I read recommended picking up a bike repair course, and I think I will. But first I’m going to get this fixed. (or should I just get a touring bike now, instead of fixing something that I plan to replace in a year anyway?)

  1. Hey man, good luck with the bike. I’ve had my 10speeds tuned up at the bike shop that’s closest to the pizza joints on Murray. They do a pretty good job. Don’t know if they are even still there. Take care.

Mud, Sweat & Gear is indeed still there. There’s also one on Forbes where the hardware store used to be. Not sure which one to go to, but having your recommendation, and having heard some less than friendly things about Trek Bike (or whatever it’s called, the one on Forbes) I think I’ll go with MSG =)
