tuesday evening

Had another unsuccessful yahoo date, and then went to check out open floor gymnastics stuff at the uc berkeley golden bears rec center. Cool stuff going on, varying ability levels. Patrick (a recent friendster acquaintance) told me about it and offered to show me the ropes. I think I’m going to do it. I always wanted to do serious gymnastics stuff. I really enjoyed the brief gymnastics stuff I did as a little kid. Perhaps this will reduce my monkey climbing nature, or at least add variety to the expression of it. =) The incredible bodies there are nice too, but I’d do this even if it were just me and an unattractive (but highly competent) trainer.

      1. To date or not to date

Hmm so how do you know when you should go on a date with someone on Yahoo, or not?

Are there any signals or sure-fire indications?

Sadly, I’ve found no formula to determine a worthwhile date from a no go based solely on online criteria. Part of why I’m abandoning the attempt =/.

      2. Chemistry is an odd thing. I’m intensely frustrated by worldly phenomena that my rational brain can’t quantify. I suppose my subconscious picks up traits and makes a decision that overrules whatever my rational brain decides. I’ve had the experience of meeting someone who “looks perfect on paper” with shared interests, sense of humor, etc. and yet after meeting them in person, I can tell immediately that nothing’s going to happen. Even if I can’t articulate any of the person’s faults, I can just “smell” the incompatible attitude radiating outward.
