MLK day is coming up. I may celebrate it by checking out vancouver or visiting toronto. We’ll see what shows up on travelzoo.com next wednesday. But there were hearteningly cheap fares, for this weekend.
Central problems with vancouver trip: I know no one there and it’s very expensive. But new place, and west coast!
Also maybe portland. Never been, heard great things.
vancouver
I know a couple of people from my UpWithPeople cast are in that area….let me know if you want me to try to connect you
Re: vancouver
That could be interesting. I’m not sure where the discount flights will be this week, but I’ll announce on lj tuesday or wednesday evening, depending on what’s up.
Re: vancouver
Damn big cities get all the action!
Re: vancouver
If you’d like to fund my flight into Ashland…
Re: vancouver
Flight into Ashland? No such thing! 😉 I didn’t say there wasn’t a reason they got the action.
For donuts, go to portland. For chinese food/chinatown, vancouver.
I think I liked portland better overall… But I may be biased b/c of the japanese gardens.
I didn’t find Vancouver to be expensive at all, once you’re there. It’s the only place I’ve ever been where you can get more sushi than you can eat (plus beer) for like $18, and where every corner has a 97c pizza-by-the-slice shop.
That’s encouraging, because getting there sure ain’t cheap. =)
I suppose going from Chicago is more expensive than coming from SF – our roundtrip was about $200.
BTW – The $18 sushi thing was for 2 people. I forgot to mention that.
i would so choose vancouver over portland Nnnnnnnn-eeeee-day!!!!
PDX is nice, but yeah…. i dunno. maybe its just a seattle thing… to think we’re better’n ’em, i mean… *smirk*
I hear your cities have a PNW rivalry thing going on. =)
