Notes to self

I’d hoped it would take longer for my disenchantment with my grad school life to return. Sadly, it did not.

I did meet today, totally on accident. That was pretty cool. Awww, the fledgling homos.

  • The next 9 months of my life really do matter. They are not [just] pre-hiring limbo.
  • I don’t have anything to prove. I can just be me.
  • I may have introverted habits, but I do have some extroverted wants.

Now to cheer myself up by sitting my homo ass on the couch and reading a comic book in graphic novel form with both title and central character of the prince of darkness.

  1. that’s my favorite comic since Sandman. i keep waiting on the graphic novel formats too cuz i started it too late and have an off schedule trying to remember to go buy anything in single issues on any regular basis.

    1. It is pretty cool stuff. It’s interesting that the homo brown skin (not sure if he was Paki or Indian) is the only one who gets avenged in the first graphic novel. The least among you and all that. Pretty much all the other injustices go pretty far. Well, the little girl at the end, but can you say “teaser”? =)

  2. When you walked in (you might have noticed) I got out my laptop and I looked up your picture, because I was pretty sure it was you 😛

Perhaps we’ll have lunch sometime or some such event.

    1. I was on a mission, as you may have noticed. I made the facial connection pretty quickly, but didn’t want to get sidetracked.

And actually, I hadn’t noticed the laptop thing. Though I did a very similar thing under very different circumstances about four and a half years ago.

I rarely let my photos get as scruffy as I am today.

Lunch’d be cool. Should we invite John? Your bank or mine? =)

Yes. I am having issues with that right now. Not necessarily the being in grad school part, as I love the varied flexible schedule and the diversity of things to do in the day, but I am getting a little sick of the class prep subcompenent of the deal. I did probably 200 pages of dry, small-printed reading over the weekend and that only got me through Tuesday classes.

It’s too bad you are planning to leave town after graduation. Part of what is keeping me interested in what I’m doing is the continued learning about local context and the making of local contacts that will serve me in the job hunt and beyond.

  4. I LOVE Lucifer.

I actually have all the issues in regular comic form from #1 on. He’s such a delightful bitch!

I’m not sure if it’s compiled in one of the graphic novels, but one of my favorite “issues” was a one-shot story called “Nirvana” with gorgeous illustrations. If you can, definitely hunt that one down. It was a wonderful story with amazing artwork and one of my all time favorite bitchy Lucifer lines :

“Hmm.. Let me go or kill me. That, my dear, is what we call the ‘fallacy of the unexcluded middle'”
