I did a back handspring with no spotter today, a couple times. Whee! So much easier than front handsprings and front tucks. Must feed the hunger.
Getting a word in edgewise

Very cool! Congrats.
Front tucks suck. Hell, any forward maneuver sucks for the sole reason that you can’t spot the ground.
Yay for back handsprings!
i agree that back is a much preferable direction to front when tumbling. i can still do everything i ever could going backward (and it has been 11 years since i quit gymnastics!), but next to none of the shit i could going forward. i really should go find a floor somewhere where i can practice full twists. those are really starting to get hard to do …
Well, there’s always the group I did gymnastics with while I was out there: Cal Gymnastics Club. It’s even between UCB and oakland. =)
except i live in san francisco. 🙂
thanks though … i’ll have to look them up.
Well, in sf proper, there’s a group called acrosports with adult classes in the inner sunset/haight-ashbury area. (found on http://www.adultgymnastics.com/) It seems more class, and less open floor though. But I know nothing about it other than what a cursory scan of the website told me. =)
I can say that the berkeley group was fun, and at least half the guys there we’re homo. If they take their shirt off there, you know they’re straight, though. And the hot factor is pretty high. I never quite got into the social groove with them, but I never quite get into the social groove, period. =) Very helpful, mucho fun.
Where in SF are you guys at, anyway?
we live about a block from the intersection of 17th and clayton. half way between cole valley and the castro, and the haight is only a little bit further away.
