I’m embarrassed that I like Asimov, not because it’s so geeky, but because the man can’t write characters for shit, and has such misogynist perspectives.
Getting a word in edgewise

Me too.
Wasn’t it but days ago that you swore off meeting men on the internet? 😛
Shh! 😉
Please, like that’s going to last. 😉
I haven’t replaced the gay.com or other chat-based accounts, and I have no intention of doing so. But I never deleted the various personals ads. I’m justifying it by keeping it in perspective. If I start compulsively reloading my mailbox to see if I got a response, I’ll delete it. For the most part I ignore it, and don’t make a big deal out of it. It never hurts to have a lightning rod or two out there, just in case, because you really don’t know if/when it will strike.
So you’re comparing meeting new guys with a phenomenon that dysregulates your heartbeat and caramelizes your fingernails? 🙂
So you think it’s an appropriate analogy too, eh?
Perspective is good. 🙂
Heh. It’s fiction, Stephen .. not some statement of your philosophical bent. I doubt v. seriously that anyone will think beyond “oh, I read ‘Foundation’ once, and liked it .. maybe we can talk about that for two seconds” if they see “Asimov” listed among a pile of interests.
Yeah, I just thought it was a funny thing when I came back to it. I had a creative writing audience in mind as I was writing. =)
i could never get into him, maybe for those reasons.
i’ve heard his early short stories are good though. like the ones from the 40s…
any suggestions?
