Rock on, employment in MN

I was reluctant to post this earlier, both out of a superstitious fear of jinxing it, and out of a more rational desire not to get emotionally invested in something I wasn’t sure was going to happen. Well, turns out I got the job, so go me. It’s a half time research assistantship with the head of the state and local policy program (his only summer research assistant). The project is on value pricing, which is basically renting time in underused hov lanes to solo drivers. I will be webmonkey and listserv manager as my exclusive domain. And other duties as prescribed. Will likely involve both writing and economic analysis, though to a limited degree.

It’ll go quarter time in the fall, knocking half off expenses. This is good, but we’ll see how it all works out.

  1. That’s awesome! Congratulations.
Did you say you were looking for something over the summer too? R. is desperate for a summer tenant and mentioned charging something like $150/mo. for the spare bedroom. It’s a bit of a bus ride from the U if you end up with that internship thing on the west bank, but I told him I’d relay the offer. Actually, I should probably just teach that boy how to advertise properly…

    1. I really should have gotten back to him earlier, but I hate saying ‘no’. Unfortunately, it’s too far from the university. And the bus line that runs by his place doesn’t go near the university. I’m just not doing a transfer on a daily basis. I will, however, attempt to impose upon your hospitality for as brief a period as possible. Has he posted on the student housing lists? Craigslist? I’d be happy to help him post all over the place. =)

      1. I told him that U-centricity would be important to a pedestrian hippy such as yourself. 😉 And yes, it’s the first time he’s ever had to actively search for roommates, so we can give him some pointers.
Your welcome at my place will last as long as you can tolerate it. The lack of a second building key and the craptacular kitchen will probably be inconvenient for you, but I never mind having a guest around.
