Cool beans. I’ve never used the Perl dbi stuff, but I’ve used the PHP/MySQL stuff. In fact I just spent the last couple days getting the new MySQL installed on my powerbook and resurrecting my old DVD catalog db app I built a year ago. I had to get the data exported from the 3.2x format so I could use it in 4.0. It still works! Though there are definitely some improvements I need to make now. I think I’ll put it up on a website so my friends can see what DVDs I have when I invite them over for a movie and they ask me to list all the DVDs I own 🙂
Good luck on the job. I have a friend who manages some techies at UCB. I wonder if he’d be your manager.
