So, I’ve known that I find Vin Diesel hot, but his imdb biography revealed a number of other interesting things.
So, back in the day when I went to pegasus on a regular basis, there was this guy. I loved watching him dance. He was good. And he was hot, in a way similar to the way that vin diesel is hot. (most notably, lotsa muscle). He also smoked. I combined these two datapoints (muscles, smokes) and assumed that he was dumb, and must be uninteresting to talk to. I didn’t say a word to him, I figured only bad things could result.
Well, one day, in another setting, he noticed me. He was friendly, I was friendly back, conversation ensued. He showed a reasonable understanding of certain intellectual topics. I ended up driving him back to his place, and on the way, I admitted I’d watched him dance for months. He said he hadn’t noticed, and then asked me why on earth I hadn’t talked to him before. I blushed a little, and told him the truth in a very indirect fashion. He summed it up with an outraged and amused “You thought I was a fluff chick!” Which was really what it boiled down to.
Good, if brief, things ensued, and he moved to nyc a week later (it was something he told me about shortly after we started talking).
I did something similar with Mr Diesel, and another acquaintance who shall remain nameless. Whenever I run across something that counters my assumptions and results in a, “‘no, really, they have identities beyond ‘cute muscle guy #7′”, I end up feeling a little embarrassed, and a little stupid.
Vin Diesel is a cool guy. I’ve loved him since The Iron Giant came out and I read the credits and found out he was the voice. (and saw him on the DVD which had a clip of him in the studio recording the voice). When I saw he was going to be in Pitch Black (a science fiction film) I gave him tons of extra points… and then I was just like “yum, Vin Diesel!”

B) You are so judgemental. Even after this experience, when looking back you say things like “showed a reasonable understanding of certain intellectual topics”…. why don’t we just stick you in the middle of a chimp-infested forest and call you Miss Goodall! I mean REEEALLY Stevie, you might as well have followed that up with: “17:00 hours… it was much to my surprise that he, in fact, did not rub his ass across the carpet after managing to comprehend that us *quote fingers* humans *unquote fingers* use restrooms rather than utilizing the nearest convenient corner”
Well at least you’re becoming more aware of it. 🙂
