Application complete & Cell phone replacement

Submitted my berkeley application, on time even. I honestly don’t really expect to get in. I am singularly unimpressed with my performance in this class to date. That having been said, I’m still giving it a shot.

I’m going to replace my cell. I have a sprint plan. Now, my question is, should I continue with this same service (problematic reception at home, and full price for a new phone) or should I get a new plan with someone else. If the latter, who with?

  1. I’m looking to change mobile service too. I have Cingular, and the worst thing about them is lack of coverage, especially at my home. Too bad I like their phones and service plans the best.

I was looking at various plans, and almost all carriers now start “evening” minutes at 9pm. What good is flat-rate long distance if I can’t call anyone back east until it’s after midnight their time?

I think I’m going to wait a couple months before I change, or until my current phone dies (the battery is going). I think the number portability thing will get some competition in plans fairly soon, and maybe there will be some decent options.

  2. att&t is okay, although at 9 PM when free night and weekend minutes start it is more than a little difficult to get through (especially if you are calling another at&t mobile in berkeley). it is always open in oakland though. funny that.

on the plus side, you get full digital reception in the downtown sf bart stations with at&t.
