So, Uncle Dennis was showing off his medical toys at his office the other day (and dealing with some legitimate health concerns for Ina’s dad, and my cousin Shana) and so I got my lipid profiles taken. My HDL’s were in the mid 30’s (low) and the ratio of my overall cholesterol to my HDL was 4.9 (high). This is modestly bad news. I’m at no great risk for immediate heart disease because, well, I’m young, but I ain’t gonna be that way forever. Ina, on the other hand had HDL’s in the 70’s, and a ratio more like 2.
It wouldn’t hurt for me to stop making the late night oatmeal cookies, and start exercising more. More flaxseed in my diet wouldn’t hurt either. Drop the pretzels, pick up carrots, etc. Ugh. Stupid family history of heart disease. I have pictures from the trip that I’ll be posting at some point.
I managed to forget my laptop charger at Dennis’s house. Doh! Two trips in a row. I’m so good at this stuff.
Are we talking 100’s or 200’s?
My total cholesterol is in the mid 100’s =)

Of course, this was only women studied here.
I feel ya
My family has a history of heart disease also. So far, I’ve managed to dodge the bullet and mine has stayed reasonable. Hang in there.
