Getting a word in edgewise

resume fodder
think about stuff that happens in an office.
are you friendly on the telephone?
are you friendly to strangers that walk into the door?
how organized are you? (are you capapble of forcing yourself to be organized, even if isn’t first nature)
are you good with office equipment? (copiers, faxes)
can you learn quickly?
how are you with solving problems that come up?
how are you with stress management?
approximately how fast do you type?
how comfortable are you with computers? (dumb question for you, but still important)
Since most of the stuff that you have experience in is techie stuff, if you write the stuff out in full/partial sentences, it will look less spare.
If your answer is a good answer to an above question, put it in the resume.
If your answer is a bad one, DONT put it in, don’t even mention it.
I could go on, but let me know if you need more input.
Re: resume fodder
That gives me much food for thought, and alot af material for a resume. If you have more to add though, I’d certainly be interested in it. =)
Re: resume fodder
oh yes, and whatever techie skill you can translate to office work is good too.
people don’t think about it but it is good.
like being able to learn software packages quickly, how much database stuff you know
on a user end.
you get the idea.
Re: resume fodder
Are you willing to sleep with the boss?
How skillful are you with your tongue?
Do you have some sugar walls?
*grin* Let’s put the useful and practical info in that resume. ;p
Guess that answers what kind of mood I’m in today.
put the buzz in buzzwords.
you do things like:
“effectively multitask”
“handle high volume phone systems”
“familiar with office work flow”
“advanced ms office skills”
“team-focused”
blah blah blah. it’s all lies but tell lies about stuff you can back up with actions or minimal thought. 😉
