Given the changes in recent WoW Patches, I’m wondering how long it will be before we have mages who tank and heal.

Why on earth Blizzard doesn’t allow inter-realm and inter-faction chat is beyond me. Why they don’t make it easier to change servers also boggles me. (If transfers were, say $5-10, I’d probably do it once a week to once a month. Way more profit.) Other possibilities include allowing inter-realm raiding, sorta like how they have inter-realm PvP. I say this knowing jack and shit about how their servers are actually set up, of course.
I maintain my opinion that the pure DPS classes (mage, rogue) should have the highest DPS. They’re truly getting fucked with each successive patch – at this point I have no idea why anyone would start/play a mage or rogue, barring personal preference/play style. Why would you choose to invest in a character that can only do one thing when other classes can do 2 or 3 different things (4, really, in the case of druids) very competently with a mere respec?
And yay for the possibility of a Horde instancing group. For the Horde!
I also heard that we will be able to have two talent specs and you can switch back and forth between them without paying to respec. Which will be good for my big hairy bear ass… then I can be tank and heal.
Basically, they’ve made the game easier to solo for occasional players. But, they’ve also not nerfed OP classes, but increased the power of all classes to try and make them evenly powered. Pretty soon, classes will be like the future humans in that South Park episode. Everyone will be wearing plate and have an epic flyer in the cold. Just like kids can’t play tag on the playground, we have to coddle people. It’s hard to get groups for anything. Why even do instances when leveling a new toon, you can’t get a group. You have to buy a run, which is so lame. But, it’s all about money. Blizzard wants more money and they are getting it. But, at what expense? I think it sucks. I deleted my 65 Priest, my 70 DK, my 50 Hunter, and another lowbie rogue the other day… and if I were crazy I would have deleted my 75 Warrior, 70 Mage and 72 Druid.
What server are you trying to get a Horde group? I’d start a new one. The only thing is my work schedule. I usually work nights CST.
Making inter-realm transfers that easy right now would wreak havoc on the server economies. On the other hand, it’d help even out a lot of the inconsistencies between economies, and let them better tune the overall cash flow.
Making inter-faction chat work? Yeah, I’ve never understood why they insisted on that seperation. The only thing I can think of is that it allows people to use /say and /yell to communicate in a battleground without giving away your intent to the opposition.
Considering that they already bounce players around between processes on one machine or even between distinct machines, and still maintain chat, they should be able to do inter-realm chat fairly easily. But there would still need to be realm-only chat systems, for things like LFG and trade.
If you’re planning on starting from level 1 and planning regular times to play I may be inclined to join.
That is the plan. =)
