I’m now at less than $2,000 in credit card debt (until I go grocery shopping this evening).
This represents slow progress. From about $10,000 2.5 years ago.
Having looked at my credit card bills, it seems that my big expense, even more so than fancy food is travel. Big shock there.
Congrats! Fewer things feel better than reducing one’s debt load. Next month I am making my final payment on my student loans. Yeehaw!
Paying off debt is one of the best things you can do for your peace of mind. You’ll see!
Hmm. In three months I paid off about 4k of debt.
I guess I value travel less.
Take 2:
In about 3 months I paid off about 4k of debt. Granted, I do not spend much on travel.
I guess priorities are different.
I think you live more modestly than I in a number of ways, transportation certainly being one of them. Not sure if a salary differential plays in as well.
GO STEVIE!
Paying off debt is very wise in the current almost-deflationary environment. However, in a couple of years once the bailouts and the trillion-dollar stimulus have worked their way through the economy, there will be massive inflation. At that time, owing a lot of debt will actually be smart.
Owning a lot of debt AND a lot of hard value items, whatever you can predict those to be. 😉
Way to go!
