Getting a word in edgewise
Can anyone tell me how to make this universally used piece of crap application rewrap lines on cut & paste?
I miss emacs.
my version of word automatically takes out the hard returns and does wrapping when cutting & pasting. try an upgrade?
if not, try replacing hard returns with spaces:
1. ctrl+h, then with the cursor in the “Find What:” box,
2. “More”
3. “Special”
4. “Paragraph Mark” (I think you can manually type this is an ^p, but I’m not sure)
5. Move the cursor to the “Replace With:” box and hit the space bar once
6. Hit “Replace All”
PS – I highly doubt MS Word can take the sucking title from you because MS “excels” at nothing. 🙂
Get it? Get it!?
Sorry, I couldn’t help it. Feel free to groan now.
It sounds like you’re cutting and pasting in formatting from your other document.
To avoid any formatting hitching a ride, use “Paste Special” and then select unformatted text.
That won’t actually remove the CR/LFs, as they are not considered to be “formatting”.
If the problem is that margins were set differently on the other document, though, it will fix the problem. As it’s something I have encountered before, it is worth a try.
And either way, it will take all of two seconds for Stephen to see if it works or not.
I tried it myself before replying, by copying from a PDF into Word. It did not work for me in that case. I can’t say there aren’t instances where it might work, however.
I does wrap, assuming there are no hard carriage returns / paragraph breaks in the text you’re pasting in (which is probably the problem).
It would be a nice feature though, wouldn’t it? lol
fuck emacs
i still use vi
