        i played arcade games, too…but not this sort. boy…thank goodness the japanese did not take over the U.S., as many people seemed to fear would happen. english class would never be the same again.

        that said…the card achieves a new level of humor. the second line is non sequitor AND esoteric. it’s only funny given the silliness of the non sequitor comment about “base.” it’s a meta-metaphor, i think. language transcending language. geek code, indeed. not for “i love you” but rather for “if you understand this then we can further communicate about how we can circumvent vernacular and say nothing while saying everything at the same time.” or something like that.

        all i know is this: if some guy gave me that card, he’d better be fucking hot and great in bed.

    1. i forgot to include the graphic in my deconstruction of the message (see above). i missed the Linux connection. that aside, the penguin (charming) bearing the heart is very cute and makes clear the meta-metaphorical nonsequitor nonsense message is, at least, an utterance of romantic intent. a picture says a thousand words, afterall.
