Don’t get me wrong. It’s great seeing so much of this country, and this planet. But the fact that I have three free southwest flights coming to me, and no idea what I’ll spend them on is a little disconcerting. Yay for frequent flyer credit cards?
Southwest’s frequent flyer program is the worst one because the awards expire after a year. Their per-flight credit system is good if you take lots of short flights, but otherwise the other airlines’ programs are better.
How many systems will give you a free roundtrip after 8 round trips?
It’s typically like 25000 miles. Aside from SF (and my recent hawaii trip, which would also require more miles), I rarely take lengthy enough trips. Chicago to NY, OH, CO, MD, or the like just wouldn’t add up as fast. Now, the limitations on Southwest’s destinations can be rather annoying. But the annual limitation isn’t a big deal for me. Plus at present, while I can’t spend my awards, I at least accrue them three times as fast. =)
