job go byebye

Well, I did it. I resigned. Effective 3 weeks from today.

I can keep in state tuition, as well as half the tuition benefit I was getting (thus 1/4 tuition, see also the three weeks). Talking with my manager and a couple other people, the time and stress factor wasn’t worth it. Of course, if I’d done this at the _beginning_ of the semester, that would have been better. Yeah, I would have done without $1.2k of tuition benefits and lost about as much in after-tax income. OTOH, I would not have been nearly so strapped for time during this, the busier half of my semester. Now, for the second half, I’m dropping the equivalent of 7 units of classes (3.5 for half a semester, 6.5 hours in classroom time) shedding my leadership duties with QGPA (2 hours/week max), and resigning my research assistantship (hypothetically, 10 hours per week). Hopefully, this will let me get my shit done so I can graduate on time.

Maybe I’ll also make it to the gym. Wouldn’t that be nice. =)

  1. Well, I’m sorry you were forced to make a difficult choice, but it sounds like this will free you up to get done what you need to do in a way that you’ll be satisfied with.

Good luck on the home stretch!
