He’s a boob. I’m utterly immune to this whacked out “You’ve just gotta show tolerance for our zany ad-libbed anti-theory… or else, you’re just a bigot!” We don’t leave space in text-books for discussions of what variety cheese the moon might be, and we should not have space for various religions’ contentions that their Great Universal Pappa Smurf has engineered us all with invisible, unknowable tools. Saying “well, evolution isn’t a perfect theory, so maybe it was Vishnu!” just ain’t science.

Wait, who’s pro-tolerance? The guy whacking ID advocates in the knee with baseball bats or me?

I think it’s one thing to say “this isn’t science and doesn’t belong in a science class,” and quite another to say “this is garbage and should be treated as such.” My feelings match the latter, but I have a great fondness for the first amendment. The former is a big “well, duh”.

I got a “well, maybe you should examine your beliefs, mister science-pants” sense from that guy… but, perhaps I was just skimming it as a bored partisan who didn’t really expect to be enlightened about the need to include Vishnu in our science classes.
