Republican Birth Control

So, it seems that a Republican law maker in the fine state of Indiana has decided to do something to make sure that children are cared for. She wants to make it a crime to become pregnant or to help others become pregnant by artificial means if the would be mother doesn’t have a husband. So, leaving aside the homo-hostility, and the implicit condemnation of anything but a traditional family, let’s look at what this law would produce. Since I’m sure she wouldn’t want this artificially produced fetus to be aborted, she’s looking at jail time or fines for a pregnant woman, reinforcing the stability and sanctity of marriage, we’re looking at a whole new reason for a three week marriage, or encouraging the flight of high productivity medical professionals to other states, where IN couples would go to get their infertility treatments.

Unless of course, she simply wants court oversight of infertile couples’ efforts to reproduce.

The political absurdity is second only to the policy idiocy.

  1. I mean, I know that conservative ideas are rampant on the globe. We live in a very diverse world. The US doesn’t have the monopoly of Christian idiots. I’m not a big US fan (I hope I’m not vexing anyone… sorry if it’s the case) but I can objectively analyse the situation and say that you have certain things going for you, and certain going against you. So I know it’s not all bad.

But why do you have to have the wackiest, cookiest, craziest, most illogical conservatives on this planet? How did the US manage to create such clowns? They are not terrorists, they are not blood thirsty radical killers, but they’re so out of touch with reality, it’s like they live in a parallel universe. Do they wake up one morning and just decide to come up with the stupidist idea to implement conservative values?

Next to them, our Stephen Harper is part of the centrist intelligentia. Anyhow, good luck with that. You’ll be needing it.

  2. I think Republicans also pass around stories about absurdly crazy liberals. Stories like these help to keep our in-group loyalties strong, so we’ll donate time, money, and votes to the people who can claim our loyalties.

    1. Was it mostly democrats that advocate for things like banning particular video games? Or the gas tax removal in response to rushing the pumps? (I thought I heard Hillary associated with that.) Both of those are pretty damn dumb.

  3. Hey, give us a break! We just started observing daylight savings time. Perhaps someday we’ll start living in the present rather than the past (or some backwords form thereof).
