Summary of weekend: academic goals accomplished: none.
Laptop, on its way to houston for repair, should be back w/in 2 weeks (?!?! =( )
Laundry, mostly caught up
D2X character: Servorus, Paladin, level 12, shooting for an Avenger
Scott’s bed, moved
Ikea shopping, complete: table and shelves constructed
giant pot of split pea soup, tasty, but heavy on the collard greens
tally of furniture related pain: knuckle, bridge of foot, knee, and midback, all on the right side.

I’ve made a decision regarding MMORPGs. If I am ever at least a week ahead in my academic pursuits, I’ll let myself back on FFXI. Realistically, this probably means that I will not be doing MMORPGs, but will be substituting other games.

  1. I made myself a similar vow, but in 3 months running, I’ve yet to feel like I deserve some MMORPG action.

I miss FFXI…and now that they’re bringing out Blue Mage and Geomancer, I gotta play…

  2. oooh… what server is ur diablo char on? If you want a leveling buddy i could hop on =P. I’m suffering from withdrawl from WoW, (btw: WoW pwns FFXI omgwtfkthxbyelollerskates!!!11!!one!!1!one!11!69 =P ) so i’m currently substituting my massive addiction to WoW with my minor addictions to the first 2 warcrafts and all the other blizzard games that have eaten my soul over the past few years.

I also got no work done this weekend…so i feel your pain. i was so angry at myself and now i’m going to have to spend this entire week sleep deprived….. c’est la vie.

          1. lol

btw: I started a paly on US west and sucked pretty hardcore at it…. but im relearning =P My account is subjektivity if you wanna add me to your friends list; my palys name is seguro

                1. Well, when it comes to survivability, there’s not much to match a paladin with max holy shield, all three max resist elements (for the passive boost to max resistance), and max salvation (resist all three elements). That also leaves you with no way to deal damage, and as such, I distinctly do not recommend that plan.

My plan is to take Conviction, at level 30, which lowers enemy resistances, add some elemental damage from vengeance, and boost said damage mostly with the resist element auras, as well as perhaps a point or two of direct investment. It’s a pretty self sufficient approach, but it goes well with sorceresses and anyone else who uses fire/ice/lightning. A sorc, a bowazon, a lightning oriented javazon, elemental druid, or a traps oriented assassin would be a good complement. Javazons have pretty good survivability, I hear.

Alternatively, you could go for conviction and I could go for a complementary class, or as a final option, you could pick up fanatacism and zeal, and I could go for a corpse exploding/monster reviving, damage amplifying necromancer. Really, it’s all about picking a strategy that suits your fancy.

    1. My currently inactive character, Mesharr, is on Garuda. She’s a mithra, primary thief, level 37. I forget the specfics on the other jobs. Ranger and blm are the only ones that aren’t under leveled as such. I think RNG, BRD, BST, and PLD(?) are the only advanced jobs I got.

      1. Hmm…

If you ever come back, you should join my server, Pandemonium. Previously, I would’ve warned people away saying my server was hella inflated, but reading server forums about prices on other servers, I’m finding out we’re about normal!

          1. Well,

To be honest, Lvl 37 isn’t that very high and doesn’t take all that long to get to, especially with a friendly Level 75 RDM to lend a helping hand once in a while. 😉 It’s totally true when peopl say that once you reach level 65, you’re half-way to Level 75.

              1. Kirin *yawn*

These days the “in” thing is asking if someone has {sea} access. As they say, “{sea} is the new {sky}!”

Also, the new (or old) big bad to kill (at least among NA shells) is the Dynamis Lord. Nothing like watching 64 Lvl 75s wiping to a single AoE attack, “Oblivion Smash”. Also nothing like watching our alliance of 18 BLMs finally taking him down, with the help of a full group of RDM/DRKs casting Chainspell + Stun.
