remaining conscious in class

What better way to retain consciousness than to rant?

Professors use their own special brand of english. The phrase is not “give a flavor” you cromagnon autists. It is “give a taste”. I used to think this was unique to CS. Apparently, it’s spread more broadly than that. Fortunately my environmental classics prof seems to have dodged the bullet. Hopefully, she will stay uninfected for the upcoming year.

Sadly, I feel no more conscious.

I’m soooo glad the prof feels the need to review econ 101. If only I’d known this beforehand, I could have used the time to do reading for other classes.

A google search of “just a taste” gives me 66,000 hits. A google search of “just a flavor” gives me 49,000 hits. Even if this was a new phrase, which I highly doubt, why bother fighting it? Languages change. To curse something in common use is just blowing in the wind.

      erg.

That was supposed to read “Keepers of the Language” and “A google search for ‘give a flavor'”. I’m slowly learning from Livejournal that I have to proof read everything I type. Somehow between graduating from college and now, I’ve caught some strain of mental retardation. Maybe it’s because my mind wanders while I type. *sigh*.
