My 4th of July wasn’t too terribly eventful, but it was pretty fun. Reversing the situation from last week, is in my city of residence for work-related purposes. So, he, and I did something much like what he, , and I did. Hang out, catch a movie (Bewitched, I was rather disappointed, they could have done so much better…) and dinner at the chicago diner. is a great guy, who I would recommend to just about anyone for an evening of around-the-town fun. is also quite cool, and it’s fun (if not difficult) to make him blush, even if it doesn’t show on him.
you ate at chicago diner yesterday as well? I was there around 8pm with my girlfriend…weird.
Not soooo odd. I did subscribe to you (I think I started it) because you’re a chicago resident vegan, who seems kinda cool. There aren’t many vegan restaurants in the area, therefore… =)
Usually I think my fellow vegans are freaks. I guess that makes me a self-loathing vegan. =)
Its ’cause vegans ::are:: freaks! 😀 LOL
Also, we showed up right as they were closing, around 10 or so. At 8, we were still watching bewitched.
ah…so you live in the area I assume? It’s the best neighborhood for vegan eats. any other recommendations? I’m a big fan of szechauan garden.
Well, I live out by the end of the brown line. 4 years ago, I lived in chicago. 5 different apartments in one year. My first apartment was very close to the chicago diner.
I’ve only been here for a month or so this time, so I’ve had limited time and energy to explore (full time work is really draining). But the Blind Faith Cafe by the purple line dempster stop in Evanston and the Chicago Diner are my favorites in town. Mama Desta’s Red Sea restaurant is okay, but I miss the other ethiopian spots that were in lakeview, and seem to be no more. Not familiar with szechauan garden, where’s that at? Have you tried alice & friends? I’ve heard good things about it, but never been.
oh, alice and friends is fantastic, I recommend the sweet tang tsu. szechuan garden is at surf and broadway, just north of diversey. I live around the corner from it. It specializes in vegitarian foods and has all this information about vegitarian diets and buddhism I believe. It also serves meat for any friends who are vegitarian weary. The lady who runs the place is really sweet…but sometimes overworked and stressed out. It’s definately my favorite place right now. Try the BBQ Seitan and some of the seitan main dishes. Bring a healthy appetite, they are big.
Why thank you! The feeling is mutual. 🙂
