I am running an iBook G4 1.33 GHz Macintosh system with 768M of RAM. I have just downloaded, installed, and set as the default Internet Explorer 5.2.3 and Windows Media player 9.0.0. It will not display movies directly from the browser (gibberish text instead), and it will not display movies when I download them and attempt to play them (I receive an error message with the following text: “Cannot open the file. Verify that the path and filename are correct and try again.”)
I was a customer prior to your decision to use this new DRM [digital rights management] technology, though I was not a mac user at the time. I never shared your porn with others. Based on my prior experience with you, I trusted you to continue to provide good porn, and distribute it well. I have been let down. Your new protection mechanism prevents me from even finding out if you still have good porn, even though I have gone to significant effort to ensure that my system would work with it, according to all the information you have provided, on top of paying for it.
I am very disappointed with your system’s performance. Until you tell me you are using an open standard, such as avi, mov, or mpg, I cannot justify wasting my money on you. I will share my evaluation of your “improved” service with the more than 100 gay men subscribed to my blog (several of whom I know to have purchased your content in the past), and on the numerous online gay groups to which I belong, along with my recommendation that they not purchase your product as it currently stands. I’ve always had that trouble with wmv files – I find that I have to save them to my computer to view them. mpg files have always worked fine. I don’t know about the other two.
I quit them because of that as well.

Hmm. I wonder if they’re doing okay … this is the second or so post like this I’ve seen since they switched over. It sounds like they’ve hedged their bets on the IBM-PC market, which, given 90% of the market share (or whatever), sounds like a good idea, until you realize that you’re pissing off a lot of people with money and good taste by shutting out the Mac market (and who’s to say if it work on Linux platforms or not, which I bet it doesn’t).
