  1. Now? Well yeah why not. I mean the Reichstag hasn’t burned, but one party controls all branches of government. I will be hiding my books and digging my way out of the “re-education” camps when they start.

    Notice well how Americans have no concept of collective guilt. Had the sort of thing that went on during World War 2, with internment of Japanese Americans and the stealing of their property and businesses in California gone on in a country with it, people might be more careful not to repeat the error.

    So would you prefer your cattle car with or without air?

  2. I think I do disagree. There are three or four characteristics there that are clearly developed, but a lot of them exist only to a relatively minor level – so far.

    1. Yeah, some of the points were clearly exaggerated, as well as conflating some members of the party in power with the government, per se. There are fascist tendencies on the rise in the US. That is quite distinct from saying we’re now a fascist state.

  3. The one thing that troubles me most is that the faces on that sorryeverybody.com site reminded me first of my parents’ old German friends we visited when I was 10. Their general feeling is “we’re so ashamed we let such a thing happen, and didn’t realize what was happening sooner than we did.”
