DC vegetarian restaurants

Wouldn’t it have been clever to look up a list of veggie friendly restaurants earlier? Instead of going to some place that seemed to not understand that “no cheese” and even “sin queso” meant the cheese inside the burrito, too. *shrug* I’ll definitely try a couple out before I go, though. =)

  1. WOW Thanks for that link! I have already sent it off to my wonderful Veggie friend Rupal who lives in DC! She is going to be so excited, you just earned me tons of veggie brownie points!

  2. Heh, most places consider cheese to be veggie. It’s one of the big reasons I never gave up eggs or cheese, it would have made eating out an even bigger pain.

    1. Well, I’m not one of those vegans who goes around proclaiming that I’m a “true vegetarian”. I’m fine with vegetarian including dairy. But when I explicitly say “no cheese”, and the next day, when I come back, someone explains to her not merely “no cheese” but “he’s allergic to dairy” in her first language … well, I’m a little less than impressed by the cheese that did find its way into the burrito. =)

      1. That’s an excellent example of why I went ovo-lacto veggie. Stuff just makes its way everywhere when it’s prepared by someone non-vegetarian.

  3. Now this would have been easier to work off of. The list is really long; I’m impressed.

It is good that yeast doesn’t count as an animal, that would really cut down on drinking beer.

      1. hahah, i don’t think i missed too many entries, but suddenly you’re in DC.. hahaha

if you end up swinging by nyc, let me know.. i know some veggie places 😉
        (as doubtless others do too)

        1. I’m in dc for the transportation research board conference. I got into town a bit early.

I do have some motivation for visiting nyc, but probably not soon. I have others to whom I feel I owe a visit first. =)
