Dad in Kuwait

Mom called at 7:18a to let me know that dad is in Kuwait, the first step to his return home, and one which lowers his risk level dramatically. I am glad to hear the news, and strongly considering shutting my phone off when I go to bed in the future. =)

    1. He’s been with the national guard for like 20 years, though I didn’t talk about it much before he was called up to active duty. He’s the chief medical officer for the ohio national guard. He was also in the navy during the vietnam war, though I don’t know much about that.

So, yeah, he’s military, and he came to kuwait from bagdad, so, hence the “safer” part.

  1. That’s great to hear.
You wouldn’t believe how many times my mother asked about him.
“When’s the last time Steve heard from his dad?”
    “I’m really not sure.”
    “…Those bastards!”

  2. Good!

Much safer there as long as he stays on post. But then, I doubt your pop the CW5 is wandering around unescorted. I’m glad he’s one step closer to home.

    1. What’s CW5? =)

Yeah, he shouldn’t be in Kuwait very long at all. Flying him back to ft hood before next week. Some span of time for debriefing, then back to ohio late next week. I’ll probably be out in ohio some time in mid february to see him.

  3. I didn’t know that your Dad was in Iraq, but I’m glad to hear that he’s on his way home.

Incidentally, my Dad was in the Navy and served in Vietnam, as well. I don’t know too much about his experience there, except that he was never in combat.
