There was the lady in the red lined black cloak providing directions on public transit to the tourists and the jaywalking guys in utilikilts and combat boots across the street. Pioneer square seems like it would provide for some excellent people watching. =)

second thoughts
Haven’t decided yet. While this looks like a definite upgrade on the office space, the other professional aspects of the move are more ambiguous at best. And I have some damn fine friends in Chicago.
And there are some transformations and growths that require constant change, but there are others that can only take place after one has grown into a place.
If I’m still feeling this way by wednesday, I ain’t goin’ nowhere. Let’s see how the weekend is.

Anyone know someone I wouldn’t strangle in their sleep looking for housing near downtown Seattle?

more running, but not enough
Last week on Tuesday I ran 4 miles to Leah’s place for our weekly group meal. The next time I ran was Saturday, 5 miles wit da gays. Biked 10 miles (2.5 at a time) same day, just to get around. Okay, well, the final 2.5 was the following morning, but it was early. Anyway.
I also finally registered for the 10 miler.
I don’t doubt I can run 10 miles without collapsing at this training pace, but I mean, really, I should be running more. I’ll probably repeat last week’s plan, but run to Ellen’s instead this week. Unless I do the indoor track run at the downtown bally’s, which is less fun, but more convenient.

Seattle pre-moving trip
I have a round trip ticket for next weekend (late thu to late sun) to Seattle. I plan on looking at apartments and maybe dropping by the Seattle office to check things out, and generally attempting to assuage my [reasonable] anxiety about my impending move.
Thu April 3rd
Depart Chicago (MDW) at 8:05 PM
Arrive in Seattle (SEA) at 10:30 PM
Sun April 6th
Depart Seattle (SEA) at 6:15 PM
Arrive in Chicago (MDW) at 12:10 AM
Um, whee?

Moving logistics — It’s expensive!
So, I did a little math and figured out that u-haul move to Seattle would cost about $1.3k, not including meals, time off, or lodging along the way. (nor including some hang out time in Minneapolis, and some potential camping experiences along the way). But if I could find someone to share the move with, that would be the clear financial winner.
Otoh, if I let door-to-door moving deal with it all for me, that’s 1.4k (for one container, which would require me to pare my stuff down alot). Problem #1: I can’t have the moving container on the street here. So, I’d have to uhaul my stuff out to their facility out by O’hare. (easily $100, plus, it’s the worst part of a uhaul move anyway). Or, I could pay $300 / container (estimate) to have burly men do that part for me.
If I go door to door, I can also just hop on a plane to denver for training on april 28, and fly to Seattle on april 30, all on the work dime. Simplicity has its price.
Things I want to do before leaving Chicago
- See Wicked
- Visit the Chicago Nature Museum
- Visit the Chicago History Museum
- Eat Breakfast at Victory’s Banner
- … I had one other thing I wanted to do, but can’t remember it now. I’m sure there were 5, though.
Others interested in joining me for one or more of these, should say something.
Ideas for other things I should do also appreciated.

Somewhere in there we had athor quality time. I also ate a calzone as big as my head.
Sunday we had french toast and easter candy.
My digestive system has been tres unhappy all week. I cite excess dairy, alcohol, and occasional passing green pepper exposure as contributing factors. It hasn’t bothered me in the past 8-16 hours. Maybe I should just blame DC. =)
