I probably chatted online, and killed things. I’m pretty sure that was when I got Mesharr to level 14. An entertaining waste of time.

Saturday morning, I went walking with the veggies. I actually ran for part of it. Running with a backpack, especially a poorly zipped one, bad idea. My portable cd player fell out, cover fell off, and cd rolled into the road. I promptly sat down & re-assembled it. The cd wasn’t even scratched. Go me. One of the veggies is another fruit, turns out he knows <lj user=settsimaksimin>. Heh. Small world.

Checked out a lower duplex, with a small third bedroom. Like, I’d need a lofted bed degree of small. I may go for a lofted bed anyway. I’d also called in on a couple of for-rent signs I’d seen on the way to the first place we checked out. Set up an appointment for that afternoon to check out another lower level 3 BR duplex. This left us with a few hours to kill, so we scoped out the neighborhood, checked in with a corporate client leasing service, grabbed indian buffet lunch, browsed a comic book store, saw The Hunting of the President. It was pretty good, a summer of documentaries indeed. It outlined the coordinated maneuverings/conspiracy to impeach Clinton. I gave up on keeping track of the name drops in the first 5 minutes, but I feel better informed as to what happened, if not who did what. Worth watching, to my mind.

Afterwards, we checked out Phoenix Games, and Dreamhaven comics/used sci-fi. Both a very, very short walk from either of the prospective new places (the two places are right around dupont & 32nd). We finally got to see the other place, and my pinchpenny reflexes fought for the first one, but the price difference really isn’t that big. And <lj user=ludomancer> seems to have a definite preference for the second one. Saw <lj user=settsimaksimin> & bf on the way back to the bus. At least, I think it was his bf. I’ll have to actually say ‘hi’ to him sometime. =)

Back home, with plans for gaming later in the evening. I baked cookies.

1 cup flour, 1 cup oats, 1 cup sugar. 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, combine. 1/3 cup water, 1/4 cup oil (I used EarthBalance ™, butter might work for you anti-vegan sorts ;), 1 tsp vanilla, blend. Mix wet & dry, add chocolate chips, and walnuts (if you’re into that, I’m not). Bake at 350 until they’re done

We went to <lj user=greenpat>‘s, where I played San Juan with <lj user=squirrelbot> and Ethan (or was it Dan?). I got out both the guild hall and the palace, though remarkably few production buildings. I won with a score of, I think, 40.

Afterwards it was poker. I was resistant going into it. I ended up being the last guy (out of 7 total players) to lose. I think I figured out that the reason I don’t really like poker is that the only decision you make is how much to bet. Boring. =)

Back home, where I realize I left my backpack at <lj user=greenpat>‘s, along with two plates for cookies. Bed time.

Picked up the cookie plates, saw “I, Robot” with Jim from gay.com who works as it dude for a law firm downtown. I wasn’t nearly as appalled as I expected to be. Particularly not after reading the “Robots that Jump” review. It was of course, heavily hollywood-ified. The first 4 minutes being a showcase of Will Smith as beefcake, for instance. Susan Calvin being pretty, and totally off on emotional tenor. It does make highly indirect reference to themes that showed up in the last story in I, Robot, as well as the 0th law. It’s worth watching at a matinee, or if someone else pays for your ticket.

Jim and I hit a coffeshop briefly afterwards, chatted. It was cool. He dropped me off at Seth’s place. We went to a nearby chinese joint, and caught up. First time I’ve seen Seth since April. It was good, and did more to address my recent angst that anything else I’ve done. Home, sleep, then here to work.

All in all, a fairly full weekend.

I don’t even remember what happened to friday evening.
