Perty hilly too. Don’t really think that’s a time to brag about. Everyone else I saw was passing me. I passed exactly no one.

Much longer bike ride today. Started off with an up and a down. I had posted to a yahoo gay men outdoors group a couple days before hand saying “saturday morning bike ride, meet at 10am at the pony ride in tilden park, and here’s directions to get there, plus map, plus website.” I got there at 10:08, stayed until 10:21, with nary a sign of another human being other than occasional women in ridiculously big vehicles driving by. Ate a clif bar, used the restroom. I was working myself into a state of annoyance by the time I left, as much at myself for thinking anyone might come as at other people for being lame and not there =) I knew there wouldn’t be anyone there. I’d suspected it when I posted my little ‘come ride with me’ message. Late announcement, morning after halloween, no rsvp’s. Whatever.

Bike out of the bottom of tilden and up to inspiration point. Some cute guy there on with his girlfriend, taking a break in their hike, starts asking me about my pittsburgh frontrunners tshirt. Turns out he was a ’92 cmu alumnus. Can’t throw a RAM chip in this area without hitting a cmu alum. Stilted conversation (not really much to talk about). A little black kid showed up and helped mr alum’s girlfriend clean mud out of her hiking boots. Uninvited. The vaguely queer sounding white father(?) seemed kinda embarrassed, and made conversation. I snapped a few shots of the view, then got back on my bike and sped down the windings of wildcat canyon road to orinda.

The road I was biking along after wildcat was basically a small highway, and I wasn’t _quite_ sure where to turn. So eventually, I pulled off and called <lj user=k8to> for directions. =) As it turns out, had I gone just one more block, I would have reached the dead end and turned right onto canyon rd, like Josh told me to. Ah well.

Up the winding hills, through the foresty bits that remind me so much of the forest I spent so much time in as a kid. Don’t get alot of that out here. Snap a few more pictures. Keep climbing up the hill. Get passed by everyone and their mother along the way. Turn on to skyline blvd, have this guy who passed me earlier, and had stopped for a break at the intersection come up along side me and start chatting. Friendly guy. Told me how to find the three bears (local biking route, done it before with <lj user=k8to> & Dave from the clinic, but didn’t notice the route. I wore myself out trying to keep up with him. Stopped on the uphill on grizzly peak. I was shaking, took a break, ate another clif bar, chilled out, then kept going.

Crammed face with everything I could lay hands on when I got back home. Seems Shannon is getting along quite well with Scott (cute vegan grad student guy). Yay for her. =)

Definitely learning my way around the berkeley/oakland hills area. And between orinda & moraga (well, more accurate to say I learned that). Need to get a bike pump I can attach to my frame. Carelessly rolled through a bit of broken glass between orinda & moraga. Fortunately, nothing bad happened. Also need to do more chain maintenance. Especially since it’s rainy season. A poncho would be good too. I still need to get to & from work on a daily basis after all. Hmmm….

[1

post-586","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
