Saturday morning I got up tres early and went for a bike ride. (Well, after I rode down to the hardware store to get rechargeable batteries for the camera so I could share the view with you all). There was alot of up, quite steep at the outset, but becoming more gradual for the rest of the trip. Also much wind. Hot, dry wind. My sweat stiffened my helmet straps as it dried into a salty white crust. Kinda cool, actually. Probably should have invited , but it wasn’t that long a ride. And it sorta grew as I was out there. <\/p>\n

mapquest sez it was about 13-14 miles total. I went up by way of leroy and shasta, until I hit grizzly peak blvd, which I rode most of the way. I did stop off to take pictures at the science center (not included on route map, small detour)

Nice fountain atop the lawrence berkeley hall of science, should have taken higher res pics. maybe next time I’m up there.

When I first saw this sculpture my immediate assessment was that it looked like a bizarre bikerack. When I got closer, I realized that it was a sculpture of DNA.

\nI think it looks pretty cool.
\n
\nI took a panoramic shot of the northern bay area from the lawrence hall of science
\n
\nThe golden gate bridge is off to the right in the photo, but you really can’t see it, much to my disappointment.
\n
\nOur place is behind the hill at the bottom of the picture, I tried, but I guess you just can’t see it from up there either.
\n
\nThis is one of my favorite little overlooks on this trail, in part because it’s kind of scenic on its own. Unfortunately, everyone likes it, including losers who totally trash it
\n
\n
\nAnd it has a great view as well
\n
\n
\nPlus the occasional bit of lively political debate. (see if you can spot the front of my trusty steed, hidden in this picture)

\nHere’s the route I took up into the hills with Josh from my old place near telegraph. Sadly you can’t see the loathesome pink color of the little congregation of buildings at the bottom, so you’ll have to trust me on it.

\nOn the way back, I shot pictures of Grizzly Peak Blvd (the route I took) and tilden, which is what you get if you look the other direction from all my other pics =)
