Apparently, the cdc website no longer contains information on condoms (I just checked and found this “page”: http:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/hiv\/pubs\/facts\/condoms.htm) Another individual at the wrap up who works for a research group affiliated with UCSF and partially funded by the cdc, claimed that his group was told it had to put adult content warnings on their entire website, or risk losing funding. And the national std hotline supposed gave him the run-around on any information about condoms, finally requesting that he send any questions in on letterhead. (The conversation as he presented it was essentially him asking if they had had any recent changes in their policy on discussing condom usage, and them responding angrily, defensively, and uninformatively. He was eventually told that the policy hadn’t changed, and he then said in essence “Great, let’s talk about condoms for a second then,” and was told to send his questions to them on letterhead.)<\/p>\n
I urge you to call and find out for yourself. I’d really like to hear that this is wrong, or an isolated incident or something. I don’t think it is, but it’d be nice to hear. <\/p>\n
