That is a pathetically short distance, fyi. Barely more than a warmup from high school. But I only had 25ish minutes, so there you go. (dinner at Nick’s)

Saturday, I made it late to front runners, and decided to go for low speed distance. 6.5ish miles in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Long distance (for me, perhaps the longest I’ve run in my life at one go) and definitely low speed. By the end I was feeling it more in my knees than my calves, but I was definitely done.

Today, I ran ~2.5 miles in under 25 minutes. Still not fast, and not very long either. Sad. Faster than most of the people on the indoor track though, which leaves me somewhat unimpressed.

And a fair amount of biking as transportation in there too.

Sunday was board games. I invited James along to “straight” board gaming night, which as Spencer noted, seems to be trending less and less straight. We played 2x race for the galaxy. James won with a military (?) strategy. Then Pitt won the next one with a novelty goods strategy. I sucked it both times. I enjoy the game even if I suck at it. (Better at developing an economy than at making points, see also my repeated, insane choice of the factory over the harbor in Puerto Rico)

Next we played Pandemic, a WHO fights diseases game. It was kind of fun. Not very challenging the way we played it on the level we played it at. I find it vaguely unsatisfying as I often do player-v-the-game type games. But it’s better than shadows over camelot. I think I like Betrayal at house on the hill a little better. But they are very different games.

We closed out with Thebes, an archeology themed game. I came in a close second to Pitt on that one. I knew egypt and palestine better than anyone, but Pitt knew how to dig and put on exhibitions. He just never did the public speaking deal.

Tonight was dinner with Krista and Nathaniel. I showed up sweaty from running, and 6 minutes late. We had a mostly vegan meal, and Nathaniel expressed a willingness to do it again. My shepherd’s pie had mashed potatoes that were dyed green. We talked about the usual. I won’t be seeing them for a couple weeks. They’re going to go do good deeds in Louisiana next week, which I think is pretty awesome. And …

Tomorrow after work I fly out to DC. I’ll be mixing work and union business. As chair of the constitution committee for our newly elected union I get the honor of presenting the first stage of our deliberations on the Constitution. Should be interesting. (did I mention that out of our 39 members, I was the most marginally elected, by 1 vote? And now I’m chairing the committee that’s handling the central task before us. Wackass shit, that.)

I’m staying with one of my fellow union folks and his enviro-non-profit-VIP wife. I’ll get to see Rashmi again. I’m sure there will be drinks with some of the union folks on wednesday. Thursday, I’m having an early happy hour with the GLBT crowd in HQ. Friday I have no plans yet. Saturday I’m hanging out with <lj user=mai_neh> and <lj user=grok>. <lj user=radicalnerdgirl> and I have vague plans to hang out at some point, as well as <lj user=sister_devora> and <lj user=pedropadrao>

I take off late Sunday afternoon. Should be an interesting trip.

Well, tuesday I swam 1km. That is a pathetically short distance, fyi. Barely more than a warmup from high school.
