I went to see the colon\/rectal specialist today. He confirmed, took a look around and found another patch inside. I had hoped that it wasn’t anything more than what I’d seen, that I’d caught it quickly enough. He said that it looked like I had caught it pretty quickly, but I don’t feel that way. It’s only been active for a month or two? Is that “all”? I haven’t had anything up my butt that wasn’t related to a medical procedure in that span. Hell, I think it’s been at least 4 or 5 months. As for how long since I last had _unprotected_ anal sex, we’re getting into the realm of over a year. I think well over a year. I was hoping that it could be taken care of quickly and easily and I’d go back to nearly normal in no time. Well, that’s still theoretically possible. Sorta. <\/p>\n
They’ll do a biopsy to see if the tissue contains cancer-causing-wart-virus as well as wart-causing-wart-virus. I’m also going to have surgery. Like, under general anaesthetic surgery (for the second time in my life, first being wisdom teeth.) I was initially told that my options for surgery were mondays or thursdays, and that I would be out for two days afterwards, and my ass would feel like it’s been burned for another week after that. I managed to schedule something for a friday. I’m going to need someone with a car to take me from the surgery, because I’m going to be fucked up on anaesthetic. <\/p>\n
I’ll have to see the doc on a regular basis for months-if-not-years to come, basically to catch rectal cancer early if it starts (he didn’t say so explicitly, but I can add 1 and 1 together and get 2). I was also told I’d have to have another physical before surgery. After repeatedly explaining that I’d just had one, she (the scheduling assistant) said that I could get by on that one. <\/p>\n
The “good” news is that the doc thinks condoms are sufficient even when symptomatic. So, if I want to get pounded, I have the medical okay for that.<\/p>\n
Take home: I need a ride home from the hospital (I’ll be fucked up on anesthesia) on friday feb 25th. Anyone willing to offer will have my undying gratitude. <\/p>\n
I’ll save the lecture on sexual self-care, and limit myself to the following: condoms, limited numbers of partners, and taking my bloody time: I should have done it, I should work on doing it for the future, it’s for my own goddamn good, and it’s not all about hiv, many other diseases suck hard too. <\/p>\n
