{"id":2440,"date":"2012-01-19T00:45:16","date_gmt":"2012-01-19T06:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cheerfulchaotic.crazycrew.org\/?page_id=2440"},"modified":"2012-01-19T01:03:07","modified_gmt":"2012-01-19T07:03:07","slug":"about-the-author","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/cheerfulchaotic.crazycrew.org\/?page_id=2440","title":{"rendered":"About the Author"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For a bit of personal history:<br \/>\nAs of the time of this writing, I live in Chicago, I have a bf, and a roommate, I work for a government agency, am a union officer, and have a masters degree.<br \/>\nPreviously I have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lived in Minneapolis, Berkeley, and Pittsburgh as an adult (Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois as a child).\n<li>Worked as a researcher or programmer for several different employers, as a tutor and substitute teacher, as technical support, and as a stocker at K-mart.\n<\/ul>\n<p>As of the time of this writing, I live in Chicago.  I grew up mostly in Ohio, though also in a few nearby midwestern states.  As an adult, I&#8217;ve lived in Pittsburgh, PA, Berkeley, CA, and Minneapolis, MN.  If you&#8217;re looking for a little context on who I am and what I like, I: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Value community above most other parts of life\n<li>Care deeply about public goods and externalities\n<li>Think science is awesome\n<li>Think religion is a waste of time in part because the unobservable is unprovable\n<li>Love science fiction and fantasy for inspiration\n<li>Believe that there is good in basically everyone.  Sadly, there is also bad in basically everyone, but focusing on the positive is good\n<li>Believe that ignorance is a common fact of life, because there is more to know than anyone can know, but that we should constantly learn and explore.\n<li>Love video and board games, particularly strategic games with an economic component.\n<li>Like to cook for myself and others,\n<li>Have been vegetarian for most of my life\n<li>Hate to clean and hate to throw things away\n<li>Have a modest comic book collection\n<li>Workout fairly often, and have participated in several endurance events (including an olympic distance triathlon and a two day 200 mile bike ride).\n<li>Recycle\n<li>Cut my own hair\n<li>Identify as gay, and, to a lesser extent, as queer\n<li>Have few information boundaries\n<li>Like to get to know people.\n<\/ul>\n<p>Crowds make me uncomfortable; I tend not to conform.  I prefer diplomacy to confrontation.  I like people who are inquisitive, quiet, affectionate, direct, and goal-oriented.
